Museum visit for Historians

On Tuesday 27th September, fifteen Year 11 students visited the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton in Somerset. This was to further students` knowledge of the use and
deployment of aircraft carriers and Royal Navy aircraft, and directly links to the `Changing Nature of Warfare` aspect of the History curriculum.

The students enjoyed a talk from a former Navy officer about the history of aircraft carriers and his experiences of serving on one. Students were then able to explore the
museum to look at various preserved aircraft. The students had a final task to research how aircraft and carriers were used in various battles and wars, having to present their findings to the rest of the group and some of the Museum`s Volunteers.
