Study Skills

Head of Department  Mrs L. A. King

In our regular assessment of the attainment of students in all educational areas we have become aware of a need to spend some time trying to improve learning skills in general. In this course of fortnightly lessons, year 7 students are encouraged to develop their listening skills, memory, planning and sequencing skills, sense of space, logic, hand/eye co-ordination etc. through a varied range of fun activities.

We play battleships, struggle through mazes, try to find Wally, play ‘jacks’, learn Japanese (!), play memory games, practise fine motor skills, exercise to strengthen our hands and eyes and also to relax, listen to sounds and each other, and generally enjoy activities while improving the skills that are essential for learning.

Every department in the school can suggest skills that need to be developed for inclusion in the program.
