Students working in a Science Laboratory

We have a wide range of excellent facilities to deliver our Science curriculum.  Five purpose-built laboratories (brand new in September 2016), including dedicated Biology, Chemistry and Physics rooms, all overlook the surrounding woodland and have individual access to this external learning environment.

Our results at GCSE are exceptional.  In 2016 they were as follows:

Core Science
Additional Science

Key Stage 3 Curriculum

Years 7 and 8 are usually taught by one teacher who delivers all topics:

Biology - Cells, Classification, Plants, Ecology, Reproduction, Health and Transport

Chemistry - Elements, Mixtures and Compounds, Chemical Reactions, Rocks, Acids and Reactivity

Physics - Circuits, Sound and Light, Energy, Forces and Motion, Astronomy and Magnets

In Year 9 students commence their GCSE Science courses.

Key Stage 4 Curriculum

By starting the GCSE courses in Year 9 more able students may achieve three separate science qualifications at the end of Year 11.

We follow the AQA GCSE Combined Science (8464) and Separate Science - Biology (8461), Chemistry (8562) and Physics (8463) syllabuses.

We provide a range of co-curricular activities and visits including Chemistry Club, Astronomy Club (using a 13" diameter MEAD telescope), trips to IBM, Marwell Zoological Park and Southampton University.
