Personal and Social Development (PSD)

At The Gregg, the key aims of our Personal and Social Development programme (PSD) are as follows:


  • To support every student to become a confident, healthy, considerate, responsible young adult.

  • Equip each student with the knowledge and skills to make informed choices to enhance and enrich their own and other people's lives
  • Help students develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepare for life and work in modern Britain

  • Provide opportunities for students to reflect on their own learning and achievements and identify their own personal development targets

  • To develop skills of enquiry and communication

  • To promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, increasing their awareness and self confidence

  • Help students develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, team working and critical thinking within health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world

  • To provide equal opportunities for all students to enable them to reach their full potential and to become a valuable member of the community

  • To provide clear moral guidelines

  • To develop effective interpersonal relationships

  • To develop the ability to assimilate knowledge, to study independently and to have a positive attitude toward learning

  • To develop skills in communicating ideas and opinions to influence social change

  • To make sense of their present personal and social experiences
